The Short Version
DocuMind is a local-first application. Your documents, chats, and data never leave your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal information or the contents of your files to any external servers.
1. Data Collection and Storage
DocuMind operates entirely on your local device (macOS or iOS). All data processing, including document ingestion, text extraction, semantic chunking, indexing, and AI inference (RAG), happens locally using Apple's native frameworks (like SwiftData and VisionKit) and OfflineAICore.
- Documents: Files you import (PDFs, images, text files) are stored locally in the app's secure container.
- Chat History: Your conversations with the AI assistant are saved locally via SwiftData.
- Vector Indexes: The semantic embeddings generated for your documents are stored locally on your device.
2. No Cloud Transmission
We do not use cloud servers for core functionality.
No Cloud Processing
Your files are never sent to external APIs for OCR or AI analysis.
No Telemetry
We do not track your usage patterns or the content you interact with.
3. Device Permissions
To provide its features, DocuMind may request the following permissions:
- Photo Library / Files: To import documents and images for analysis.
- Camera: To use the Document Scanner feature (via VisionKit) to digitize physical documents.
These permissions are used strictly for local processing. The resulting data remains on your device.
4. Data Deletion
Because all data is stored locally, you have complete control over it. You can delete individual documents, chat sessions, or entire workspaces directly within the app. Deleting the app from your device will permanently remove all associated data, including the SwiftData database and vector stores.
5. Changes to This Policy
If we introduce features in the future that require external network access (e.g., optional cloud sync), we will update this privacy policy and explicitly ask for your consent before any data leaves your device.
